Many of you have already seen my aboriginal painting of Ulysses butterflies and my Australian opal ring, but I haven't yet shown you my latest and greatest purchase: a messenger bag!
Okay, I know... that sounds pretty boring compared to indigenous artwork and a piece of jewelry made from rock that's literally hundreds of thousands of years old. But I swear it's cool; I wouldn't have bought it otherwise!
As you know, I'm all about protecting wildlife and nature. It's one of my strongest values. "The earth takes care of us, so it's our duty to take care of the earth" is a phrase I take to heart (and so should you!).
Anyway, I stumbled upon a vendor at a market who was selling these amazing handcrafted bags - which just so happened to showcase this value of mine. After spending 30 minutes looking at them all, I picked my favorite one! My favorite patches on it read "respect your elders - 200 million years old" (an image of crocodiles) and "forests - they breathe so we can." These two sentences, as simple as they are, are so powerful and so important to remember. This world isn't ours to dominate or destroy. We share it with millions of other lifeforms. I hope that all of my readers take that to heart!
This bag serves as a reminder of just how lucky we are to live on such a beautiful planet. I'm humbled to be living in one of the most breathtaking countries in the world with its ancient rain forests (the oldest in the world, in case you were wondering) and a reef that can be seen from space. Let's not ruin either, or any other natural wonder, okay?
If you're interested in checking out the vendor who made my bag, and so many others, here's his website: http://rarebagsrecycled.com.au/core/. Check it out, and if you're feeling inspired, get yourself a bag. We can spread some positivity! By the way, they're all made out of recycled materials. Which makes this bag even cooler, yeah?
Be the change you want to see in the world. Who would have thought a souvenir could be so moving?
Until next time, dear readers!
