It's been a crazy, eventful, and fun few weeks. Now that I'm finished with my online class, I've found myself with a whole lot more free time! If we're Facebook friends, you know what I mean. I've gone a bit nuts with how many photos I've posted... but that's how you know I'm having a blast (therefore I'm not sorry for the Facebook spam)!
Plans are really coming together for me. When I first arrived in Cairns, I felt like I had all the time in the world to do what I wanted. I can't believe it was only 7 weeks ago that I got here since it seems like ages ago. Now I feel like I'm running out of time to do everything I've wanted to while I'm here!
To make up for that, I went ahead and made plans for the rest of my time here. This upcoming weekend I'm taking myself on a weekend trip to Darwin and the beautiful Litchfield National Park, where I'll spend time taking in some scenic views and plenty of wildlife. I've never taken a weekend trip completely on my own, but I know I'll be fine!
The weekend after that, I'm completing my dive certification! It's about time, since I've had my dive certification course work done since the beginning of August. It only seems right that I'm finishing my certification in one of the most iconic dive sites on earth - The Great Barrier Reef. What makes this even better is that my lovely roommate and great friend, Anna, is finishing her certification with me! We'll be going on a live aboard dive trip. We can't wait!
Ironically, my last weekend in Cairns will be spent away from Cairns. Anna and I are headed to the Daintree and Cape Tribulation for some incredible rain forest experiences and, hopefully, an elusive cassowary sighting. Cross your fingers for us that we see one!
I can't tell you guys how much fun I'm having because there aren't words to accurately describe how amazing this country is. So, I guess you'll have to travel for yourself to see what I mean. :) Here's to hoping you do. You won't regret it!
Until next time, future travelers!
